Employers in the workplace have many questions as Cannabis becomes legal in Canada on October 17th.
As of October 17, 2018, Cannabis is legal in Canada. This is a major development for a North American country. Not only does it affect consumers, and by extension commercial opportunities and law enforcement, but it also has considerable impact on the workplace as well. As such, employers have many questions as cannabis becomes legal in Canada.
What rules can an employer put in place to handle the legalization of cannabis? What rights does the employee or contractor have to consume cannabis? How does an organization’s human resources department determine a course of action for employees? There are many questions, and so it seems, few answers. This has led to some ambiguity and misunderstanding on the topic.
The infographic found below begins to answer the major questions posed, and will be presented on this blog as a reference over the coming week in a Part 1 and Part 2 format.
