Aon Hewitt, global human resources solutions business, has released a study where 2,800 employees were surveyed to assess their health and wellness attitudes and behaviours. It has become well-documented that increased levels of stress at work results in increased safety issues. A primary way to combat the onset of workplace stress (and the related safety issues) is to ensure action towards better employee health and wellness.
The report states that:
-78 percent of employees currently enrolled in account-based health & wellness plans are satisfied with the plans
-89 percent of employees expect to re-enroll in this option for 2013
-97 percent of employees who have been enrolled in an account-based plan for two or more years, plan to re-enroll.
A workforce in better health performs at higher and safer levels. Employees enjoy stronger levels of task/project engagement, are more alert, and are absent from their job less frequently.
